Parent Meeting Agenda 1/12/13
I. Discuss possibility for new tab on NHSHS blogspot for members to sell used, high
quality, high school books.
The idea was approved and Jarod McKenzie our webmaster was asked to look into the
blog to see if it could be done. On 1/21, Jarod was given specific book
titles to post. As soon as parents see this, they can feel free to post some books of their
own. Jarod is to let us know when/if he is able to get the tab going.
II. Finalize plans for stable funding of honor society activities. After considerable group
discussion, Mr. Schmidt generously agreed to teach Henry Frame,
treasurer, how to set up an checking account and develop a spread sheet for the group.
Another parent suggested that a set fee be made so that people can
don't have to be to be asked for fees more than once per year. The price that came up
was $30/student/year. I do not know if that is firm. Mrs. Janzen is to
decide.
III. Mrs. Janzen to address the "alphabet soup" of CLEP, CC, IB AP. Many parents put
forward what they had heard, what was working for them or what they
planned to try. It was an excellent time of sharing. We also discussed how one saves
money by becoming a student who is considered a "merit scholar" and
the pros and cons of trying for that distinction.
