March 5th Meeting Summary

It is Saturday, March 5, 2011. At last it is time for the next Honor Society meeting after almost two months. Starting with a prayer, one of the members gave a devotional on the importance of trusting on God in everything, knowing that He has a purpose in everything. Next came the time for a scholarship presentation. If one keeps a clear, concise record of your activities, it will be much easier to fill out applications; the scholarship speaker informed the group. When should one start? No time is better than today.
After an introduction, the pastor, father, author, and speaker, Pastor Greg Harris presented some tips on leadership. Using objects such as a trumpet, spyglass, school bell and an hour glass, Pastor Harris illustrated the truths of leading with a clear vision, organization, and working within your limits. Three factors control your ability to lead in any direction: time, energy and money. If we hope to lead in a beneficial direction though, our course must be based on the Word of God. “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path,” Psalm 119:105 reminds us. Not only does God’s word provide guidance, you have to listen to that guidance and follow it with a plan. “How much of your day was wasted on something you did not plan to do?” Pastor Harris asked. Even God has plans. Jeremiah 29:11 points this out. More practically, what should you do if you do not know exactly what direction to make plans to go in? Consider your interests and work to improve areas in which you are lacking. Look for where you were made to lead. Everyone is called to be a leader, in one way or another.
Eventually, one of the advisors awarded National Youth Leadership Awards from the American Youth Foundation, to qualified students.
We can’t forget the spring social! See you at Gorge Fox University on April 8th to view Shakespeare’s Taming of the Shrew
The next and last regular Omicron Kappa Chapter meeting of the school year will be held on May 7th in Beaverton. Elections will be held for next year, so come join us then!
